Shiba Inu Gets Major Merchant Adoption Boost with BitPay Integration

Merchants around the world can now accept meme cryptocurrency Shiba Inu with the help of BitPay

BitPay, the world’s largest cryptocurrency payment company, has integrated Shiba Inu into its wallet app which allows cryptocurrency to be stored, bought, traded and spent, according to one. Thursday announcement.

The meme token has joined Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin and several stablecoins on the list of available cryptocurrencies.     

Some of the supported merchants are now able to automatically accept the same coin.

Last month, electronics retailer Newegg announced that it would start accepting the meme coin before the Christmas holidays, becoming the first BitPay customer to do so.

Movie giant AMC has also confirmed that it will add canine cryptocurrency to its payment lineup in early 2022.

In April, BitPay COO said that Dogecoin accounted for 10% of the company’s total payment volume.

Founded in 2011, the Atlanta-based company is single-handedly responsible for dramatically driving the adoption of crypto-traders. In 2014, BitPay was chosen by Microsoft for the processing of Bitcoin payments.

CoinGate, a Lithuania-based BitPay competitor, also added support for Shiba Inu payments in November.
