Solana Co-Founder Claps Back at Ethereum Fan

Solana creator Anatoly Yakovenko argued in a contentious Twitter debate that Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency in the world by market value, lacked the impartial credibility and essential philosophical elements necessary to be taken seriously as a viable Layer 1 (L1) blockchain platform.

The declaration was made in response to a tweet from Abdel Bakhta, who criticised Solana for its centralization, administration, and demanding hardware requirements.

Yakovenko’s critique seemed to be made in jest because his reply was almost identical to Bakhta’s initial tweet. He said that Ethereum does not meet Solana’s position as a public utility and that its value extraction is excessive.

In a second tweet, Yakovenko defended Solana by arguing that as both systems are open source and may be forked by anybody to move in whatever path they choose, their governance is not fundamentally different from Ethereum’s.

He also downplayed worries about Solana’s hardware needs, saying that if this were a real problem, there would be many fewer complete nodes on the network.

The public discussion elicited a range of responses from the cryptocurrency community, with some users endorsing Yakovenko’s position and others accusing him of indulging in pointless argumentation and feeding the trolls.

The argument between Solana and supporters of Ethereum highlights the continuous rivalry among blockchain platforms as they compete for market supremacy.
