XRPL Smart Contract Hooks Passed Third-Party Security Audit

The XRP Ledger community as a whole is getting ever-closer to an incredible technological breakthrough. The most anticipated XRP Ledger technology enhancement since its debut, “Hooks,” has been successfully audited.

XRP Ledger is now one step closer to smart contracts, security audit passed

The “Hooks” modification, which aims to make the XRP Ledger completely programmable, has reportedly passed a security assessment, according to the official statement released by XRPL Labs. The U.S.-based cybersecurity pioneer FYEO evaluated the protocol update’s coding.

To provide rigorous third-party stress testing of blockchain software, FYEO uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The audit investigated all potential upgrade components, including the execution environment, utility functions, and Hook API.

The XRPL Labs team said that it is pleased with the findings of an independent security assessment and will implement all of the auditors’ recommendations:

The response from FYEO was overwhelmingly favourable. They discovered no significant or severe security flaws throughout their audit. We discovered a few small and a few major difficulties, which we quickly fixed.

As previously reported by U.Today, XRPL Hooks are essentially smart contracts for the XRP Ledger. They will enable programmers to create software with fundamental economic logics, much like they can on popular smart contract platforms.

This feature is anticipated to be released on the mainnet in Q3–Q4 of 2023.

Why it is better to launch “Hooks” in sidechains: Opinion

While some are adamant that “Hooks” should initially be deployed in a sidechain rather than the XRP Ledger mainnet, other seasoned XRPL specialists disagree.

The innovative XRPL L2 Evernode’s co-founder Scott Chamberlain expressed his worries about the difficulties in “Hooks” activation and put forth his own solution:

The Hooks ledger must be a sidechain, contain tokenomics that link it to the mainnet, and be a significant improvement over Stellar for the XRP ecosystem.

As we previously mentioned, XRPL creator Wo Jake warned that the blockchain may be “years away” from having smart contracts activated in August 2022.

Since February 2021, the mechanism has been subjected to beta testing.
