Unusual behaviour has been seen in connection with the well-known Shiba Inu coin, SHIB, and a wallet controlled by the defunct American cryptocurrency broker Voyager. The wallet got a mind-blowing 14.24 billion SHIB, or $107,353, yesterday.
The Voyager wallet received its funding from a hot wallet that belonged to famed centralised crypto exchange Kraken, according to explorer data. This transaction is odd enough to raise various questions.
Shiba Inu tokens worth over $1.5 million and over 200 billion had been transferred earlier that day from the Voyager account to two other addresses. Then, these tokens were distributed around several addresses, including a number of centralised exchanges.
The fact that the broker is bankrupt yet still has a sizable sum of SHIB in his wallet—1.875 trillion, to be exact, or astonishing $14.23 million—increases the mystery. As a result, the purchase of a further 14 billion tokens seems puzzling and inspires more scepticism.
Withdrawals were resumed on June 23, which is a recent change in the situation surrounding Voyager. Clients have since withdrew cryptocurrency holdings from the site totaling almost $320 million. However, there is still a hefty $107 million on the platform.
It will be interesting to observe how this unexpected turn of events affects the Shiba Inu token market as the tale develops.
