Leading Pro-XRP Legal Figure’s Social Media Account Hacked

XRP

The Twitter account of well-known attorney and vocal proponent of Ripple’s XRP, Jeremy Hogan, has been hacked as a consequence of a cyberattack.

This attack comes in response to a recent court finding that secondary XRP sales are not securities; the SEC has said it would challenge this verdict.

Fraudulent tweets have been sent on Hogan’s Twitter account pushing Ripple scams and offering a “XRP V2.0 NFT Collection” to all XRP holders and nonholders. Hogan’s most recent valid tweet came four days ago.

Hogan’s respectable reputation in the crypto field is being used by the hackers to support false accusations.

Users are urged to “claim your tokens now and celebrate the victory with us,” according to tweets from the hijacked account, which also invites them to a “celebration with free XRP tokens.” Of obviously, these assertions are false.

Instead than engaging in promotional efforts, Hogan’s official account is well-known for its insightful legal analyses of XRP and its current legal struggle with the SEC.

This event is reminiscent to a previous attack that happened in early June and targeted John Deaton, another well-known pro-XRP lawyer.

According to U.Today, Deaton had his phone hijacked as a consequence of a persistent cyberattack that lasted many days, giving someone unauthorised access to his Twitter account.

In order to introduce a new digital token called LAW and promote it as a ground-breaking contribution to the decentralised finance (DeFi) environment, the hackers took advantage of Deaton’s prominence in the cryptocurrency industry. They encouraged followers to claim the token via a connected website.
