According to reports from WhaleAlert, there has been a remarkable movement in the cryptocurrency space: around one billion Dogecoin (DOGE) have been moved from the biggest exchange, Binance, to an unknown wallet. This huge transfer is valued at an astounding $78.85 million at the current market value.
The fact that 18.5 million DOGE were moved from the mystery wallet to a different address as soon as the enormous sum was received adds mystery to this transfer. Such a large amount of Dogecoins had already found their way into this specific wallet. On December 26 of last year, there was a transaction that was similar to this one, and three other transactions later, the tokens were distributed to several unknown addresses.

Although there are still little details on the enigmatic wallet, recent activity indicates that it had its first balance shift barely two weeks ago, near the end of December. The wallet accumulated an incredible 2.215 billion DOGE, or $194.3 million, in this short amount of time. Concurrently, a substantial 1.23 billion DOGE, equivalent to $106.46 million, was taken out of the wallet, leaving it with a current balance of 981.45 million DOGE, or $77.69 million.
Dogecoin to the moon
Strangely, this transfer’s time coincides with another important Dogecoin ecosystem event. A few hours prior, 332.93 million DOGE, or $26.6 million, was sent to Binance from an unidentified wallet.
The mystery grows since both transactions occurred the day after Dogecoin and Bitcoin took off on an incredible lunar voyage on board the Vulcan rocket. The rocket is carrying the Peregrine private lunar landing module, which is expected to make an ambitious touchdown on the lunar surface on February 23 after a two and a half week voyage to lunar orbit.
