22 Million Shiba Inu Burned in Last 24+ Hours, 917 Million Tokens Gone Within Week: Details

As per on-chain data shared recently, 22 million Shiba Inu tokens have been burnt in the past 24+ hours, and almost a billion tokens gone over the past nine days

A massive sum of nearly a billion SHIBs has been sent to “hell” addresses in the past nine days, according to the @Shibburn account on Twitter.

In the meantime, the same platform that collects data from Etherscan has tweeted that in the past 20+ hours, roughly 22 million SHIB meme coins have been incinerated by various teams within the SHIB community.

Nearly a billion SHIBs burned

According to transaction data aggregated by @Shibburn from the Etherscan tracker, in the past 24+ hours, around 22 million meme crypto tokens have been sent to dead wallets, from which coins cannot be withdrawn nor spent.

That took the burners 11 transactions, during which a total of 18,859,775 Shiba Inu were removed from the circulating supply. Later on, another three million tokens were moved in three transfers.

Earlier, the same data provider tweeted that in the week leading up to February 20, a whopping 917,202,013 SHIBs were destroyed by locking themselves in the aforementioned dead wallets.

SHIB added by freelancer platform

Fourteen hours ago, the Twitter handle of LaborX, a platform where freelance service providers can earn cryptocurrency for their work in the sphere of blockchain, announced that they are about to add SHIB as one of the payment options.

On top of that, to celebrate this addition of the leading meme cryptocurrency, the company will be giving away a Shiba Inu giveaway. They plan to award a total of $2,000 in SHIB to anyone who suggests the best ideas for collaboration between LaborX and the Shiba Inu platform.

As an example, the idea of a SHIB burn mechanism, or Shiba Inu rewards for each completed job, was named.

SHIB holder count spikes

As per the data provider mentioned above, the number of SHIB owners has increased to 1,185,135 wallets. Three days ago, on Feb. 18, this figure totaled 1,180,140.

The tweet also says that now the largest 1,000 ETH wallets own 13,845,082,253,056 SHIB tokens—the equivalent of $2,291,902,599.

However, a detailed look at the WhaleStats site shows that by the time of writing, the sum of SHIB stored by the largest ETH wallet owners is worth $1,281,204,323; that is 14.96% of their crypto holdings. The average sum in SHIB stored in these wallets is 54,116,442,548 tokens.

FTX Token stands ahead of SHIB as the token with the biggest USD value. The Ether wallets are holding $1,350,883,037 in FTT—that amounts to 15.78% of their portfolios. The average amount of FTT held by the largest 1,000 ETH wallets is 34.289 million tokens.
