Wietse Wind, a well-known developer and contributor to XRP Ledger, has expressed his opinions on the perceived difference between the XRPL and Ethereum or EVM ecosystems when it comes to adding novel features and concepts in a series of tweets. Although XRPL developers have aptitude and creativity, Wind emphasised the difficulties they encounter when building core XRPL code and obtaining approval for the integration of their ideas by side developers.
Wind emphasised the importance of Hooks in order to overcome this problem and guarantee that the XRP Ledger maintains its position as a leader in the quickly developing field of decentralised technology. He thinks that Hooks will provide programmers a blank slate on which to unleash their imaginations and apply their own logic to accounts on XRPL protocol chains.
The technology is already accessible on the Hooks V3 testnet, and Wind also mentioned that a thorough security audit has been finished and would soon be made public.
Reaction from XRP community
In response to queries from the XRP community, Wind stated that a representation of XRP will be included on the side chain and ruled out the concept of creating a new currency as being unnecessary. He emphasised that any extra tokens must have real utility.
