Ethereum (ETH) Might Finally Surpass Bitcoin (BTC) by Market Cap, Analyst Displays Four Scenarios

Ethereum

Charts showing Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) “domination,” or the proportion of net crypto sector market value, were supplied by an independent cryptocurrency expert. He pointed out two trend lines that would show the predicted timing for “flippening” in the Ethereum (ETH) community.

Ethereum (ETH) might flip Bitcoin (BTC) in 2025-2026, here’s how

Morgan Bennett monitored the changes in the market capitalization shares of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) in relation to the total cryptocurrency market. Although he does not consider himself a “fan” of technical analysis, he is certain of two trends: the growth of Ethereum (ETH) and the decline of Bitcoin’s (BTC) dominance.

The “flippening” might occur within the next two or three years if both trend lines hold true. According to Bennett’s graph, it happens in Q4 of 2026. Due to the expanding growth of the altcoin market, both cryptocurrencies will be in charge of 23-24% at the time of the “flippening.”

The “Digital Gold” narrative can vanish, allowing Ethereum (ETH) to “gently,” “gradually,” or “suddenly” exceed Bitcoin (BTC), or it might happen to both cryptocurrencies.

At the time of publication, the leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC), controlled more than 46.2% of the market capitalization, while Ethereum (ETH) held more than 19.5%. The U.S. Dollar Tether (USDT) stablecoin ranks third in terms of market capitalization and accounts for 7.36% of the total.

Six years ago, in the middle of June 2017, the two biggest cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), were the furthest from “flipping.” 37% of the market was controlled by Bitcoin (BTC), and 32% by Ethereum (ETH) capitalisation.

As a result of Ethereum (ETH) being significantly more impacted by the Crypto Winter of 2018–2020, Bitcoin’s (BTC) market cap was 10 times more than Ethereum’s (ETH) in September 2019 than it was.

“Flippening could happen, but line is ridiculous,” crypto veteran Chris Blec says

Bennett’s supporters concurred with his estimates. Some of them, meanwhile, emphasised that they were sick of the “flippening” narratives that had been debated here and there ever since Ethereum (ETH) was introduced in June 2015.

Chris Blec, a well-known DeFi analyst and influencer and the creator of the Blec Report project, claims that Ethereum (ETH) has a good possibility of surpassing Bitcoin (BTC), but cautions against overestimating the precision of the aforementioned model:

I agree that the flipping might occur, but that line is absolutely absurd because you omitted all of the data between 2016 and present.

Bennett agreed with this viewpoint, but he added that, even if Ethereum’s (ETH) dominance in the beginning was taken into account to be zero, it would still be difficult to develop a function that does not forecast the flippening.
