As one of its most prominent spokespeople and an attorney representing XRP holders, John Deaton, was the target of a Twitter hack, the XRP community has sounded an alert of assault.
John Deaton, the creator of CryptoLaw, had his Twitter account hacked to spread word about a fake coin called “LAW.”
The hack most likely occurred approximately 16 hours ago, which is roughly when Deaton last responded on a tweet by the general manager of Dephi Labs. Following that, the hackers tweeted a few times to advertise the fake token “LAW.”
After a persistent onslaught spanning several days, CryptoLaw’s founder’s phone was compromised, according to the company’s official Twitter account.
This fact has been brought up by a number of well-known figures in the cryptocurrency sector, who warn consumers about clicking on shady websites.
Crypto lawyer and XRP enthusiast Bill Morgan thinks the fraud targets the whole XRP community.
According to Morgan, “This scam is an attack on the entire XRP community, despicably abusing their trust in the one person they rightfully trust more than others.”
It’s important to note that Deaton’s birthday fell on the same day as the hack. The fact that it occurred on his birthday indicates an intention to be vindictive as well as to defraud members of the XRP community, Morgan continues. Given John’s efforts, the whole XRP community was also double attacked.
Strongly interested in cryptocurrencies, Deaton has submitted amicus briefs in the Ripple v. SEC, LBRY v. SEC, and Zakinov v. Ripple lawsuits. He is still well-liked among the XRP community.
The XRP community is the subject of frauds using fake token distribution programmes, according to Ledger, a supplier of cryptocurrency wallets.
It advises holders of XRP to steer clear of token allocation claims since they try to steal their XRP money. This is because there’s a chance that one of these frauds will provide uninvited persons access to your XRP accounts.
