Cardano’s L2 Hydra New Version Released, Here’s What Changed

Cardano

Sebastian Nagel, a developer for Cardano (ADA) and a contributor to Hydra, Hydra’s second-layer solution, gave information on Hydra’s much awaited update. This version goes live in the midst of a fresh wave of Ethereum (ETH) maximalist fervour against Cardano (ADA).

Cardano’s Hydra receives new API endpoints, becomes faster and safer with v0.12.0 release

Yesterday, August 18, 2023, the second-layer scaling solution Cardano Hydra had its v0.12.0 software build released. Nagel posted a summary and release notes on his own Twitter account.

The new software is completely compatible with the Cardano Node v8.1.2 client and the unique signature technology Mithril created by Input Output Global (IOG), as emphasised by Nagel. In order to improve node synchronisation on Cardano (ADA) and make it more developer-friendly, it was launched on the mainnet on July 30.

Additionally, Cardano’s (ADA) Hydra now supports additional application programming interfaces (APIs), making it more accessible to Web3 developers and academics with the latest v0.12.0 release.

Last but not least, the team added a number of code optimisations to help Hydra reach new heights in terms of on-chain performance and security.

The contributors to the release will present the release’s specifics at Rare Evo 2023, a sizable cryptocurrency convention taking place in Denver, Colorado, from August 24 to 26.

In May 2023, the Cardano-based Hydra protocol launched on the mainnet.

Charles Hoskinson confirms Cardano’s L2 ambitions

The Cardano (ADA) network will become more scalable thanks to its L2 protocol, which will also improve the speed of its decentralised apps. One of the most significant achievements for Cardano (ADA) in 2023 will be the launch of Hydra.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano (ADA), reiterated last week his commitment to scaling Cardano (ADA) using both Mithril and Hydra. He believed that this method of scaling is advantageous for certain features of the Cardano (ADA) system.

According to him, Ethereum (ETH), a rival of Cardano, is gradually being “eaten” by its own L2s as they compete with them. This was a retort to a joke that said Hoskinson will sever ties with Hydra by the end of the year.
