Solana Founder Cautions Against Ethereum Attacks

The creators of Solana, Anatoly Yakovenko, and MakerDAO, Rune Christensen, have lately moved to Twitter to warn their respective communities against polarising behaviour in what looks to be a rare show of cooperation among leaders in the sometimes acrimonious cryptocurrency industry.

Following Christensen’s disclosure that MakerDAO is contemplating employing a fork of Solana’s technology for its upcoming development stage, this has happened. Yakovenko wrote, “I really hope that people in the Solana community don’t use this as some cudgel to attack Ethereum,” recognising MakerDAO’s move as a victory for open source but stressing that it should not be seen as favouring one blockchain over another.

According to U.Today, Christensen cited Solana’s highly optimised codebase, robust ecosystem with a thriving developer community, and proven adaptability as the main reasons why they were considering using it as the basis for their NewChain project. He also acknowledged Cosmos as a potent but less effective substitute.

Similar thoughts were repeated in Christensen’s tweet, which praised many blockchain systems including Ethereum, Solana, and Cosmos. All chains are becoming more integrated, he emphasised, and they work together to create a global multichain network economy.

Those that hold onto tribalistic beliefs, in Christensen’s opinion, are “in the wrong decade” and ought to let others build upon the foundations given by various blockchain technologies.

The tweets point to a changing attitude among industry titans, who seem more concerned with advancing technology as a whole than stoking rivalry among blockchain projects.
