Billy Markus, one of the two inventors of the original meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE), has tweeted in favour of the aforementioned social media network. Markus is well-known for being an outspoken supporter of tech entrepreneur Elon Musk and his businesses, particularly Twitter/X.

He said that if Elon Musk were to build a metaverse around the X app, it would be a revolutionary move.

Elon Musk buys Twitter and reshapes it as X

In a tweet that was posted today, Markus commended Elon Musk for purchasing the X app back in October 2022, back when it was still known as Twitter. Subsequently, he began rebranding Twitter as X and introducing a number of additional capabilities, mostly to draw in content creators by equipping them with the means to create lengthy articles and live videos.

One of the new content creators was Tucker Carlson, a well-known political analyst in the US who formerly hosted the Tucker Carlson Tonight programme on Fox News. Last year, Carlson’s contract was ended, and he started hosting his show on X.

In order to enable content creators to make a livelihood by posting using the Monetization and Subscription functionalities, Musk developed a toolkit. Many people were not pleased that X, under Musk, also charges consumers for verification checks. Star Trek icon William Shatner and American classic horror author Stephen King, who resisted paying $8 a month and threatened to quit the platform, have their blue checks personally paid by Elon Musk.

One of the artists who gets paid each month for having advertisements next to their articles with a lot of comments is Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin. This is how the Monetization function operates. However, he also has subscribers who give him a few bucks a month.

DOGE founder daydreams about X metaverse

Markus said under his original tweet that “we can virtually go to war with meta’s metaverse” if X were to create a metaverse. Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Meta, is not well-liked on X since he imitated Twitter threads in his most recent software, Threads.

Instead of suing him, Elon Musk proposed a cage fight. Initially, both of them agreed on a number of dates and places, but Zuckerberg subsequently discreetly changed his mind.
