Recently, the creators of the Shiba Inu meme cryptocurrency congratulated the community on International Dog Day, which is celebrated on August 26 every year, on the social networking site X.
The American animal protection activist Colleen Paige observed the day for the first time.
Aug. 26 was specifically selected because that is the day that Page’s family got “Sheltie,” their first dog, from an animal shelter when she was ten years old.
On National Dog Day, people are urged to provide blankets and toys to animals, adopt a dog from a nearby shelter, check the safety of a dog at home, give a family member a present that has to do with dogs and so on.
On her website, Page states that her goals are to increase public awareness of the need for rescue dogs and to foster respect for family pets and other canines that “selflessly” assist people.
Given that Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are among the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation, the cryptocurrency community naturally has many reasons to celebrate National Dog Day. Notably, the top 100 also includes dogwifhat (WIF), Floki (FLOKI), and Bonk (BONK).
Every year on April 20, for example, Dogecoin celebrates its own unofficial holiday.
Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that August 26 is the most significant day for fans of dog meme coins since it’s the time of year when everyone’s focus shifts to the four-legged pals that have served as the inspiration for some of the most popular meme cryptocurrencies.
The Shiba Inu team was joined by a large number of community members in commemorating International Dog Day.
